Adidas and the Argentine Football Association (AFA) are launching the new away kit for the Argentine national team, which will be worn by Argentine players during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Adidas sees the jersey as a creative canvas to capture and convey the cultural story of each country through the integration of local cultural icons.

For the first time in its history, Argentina will play in a purple jersey inspired by gender equality, an initiative that incorporates the values of diversity and inclusion. The “May Sun” motif on the back collar echoes the home shirt, and the flames on the body also come from the “May Sun,” a fusion of innovation and tradition meant to inspire the team to do their best and to convey the pursuit of fairness in soccer.

Guided by the new slogan “El sentimiento de un país” (The emotion of a nation), which was introduced in July when the home jersey was launched, the new jersey aims to pay tribute to the Argentine national sentiment and identity, helping to unite all the teams and fans of the Argentine Football Federation. Soccer is a true Argentine tradition and Argentines gather in front of the TV or in the stadium with their families or friends whenever the national team plays.

The jerseys are made from recycled polyester and are designed to showcase Adidas’ commitment to ending plastic waste. The players’ jerseys are comfortable, breathable and made from 50% Parley Ocean Plastic. This ocean-friendly material is sourced from remote islands, beaches, coastal areas and coastlines in an effort to reduce marine pollution. Each jersey features innovative Adidas fabrics, including a lightweight heat transfer design, and HEAT.RDY technology in the jersey fabric to help keep players cool and comfortable.
